Newsletter di EAHN

EAHN

Third issue of the Newsletter of the European Architectural History Network

EAHN n 2 2008

Following a survey of research institutions in the Flanders region of Belgium, this issue focuses on Benelux urbanism with an Explorations report on the Urban History Centre at the University of Antwerp and a Virtual Tour of Groningen in the Netherlands. The urban theme continues with a book review of Festival Architecture and an exhibition review on modernism in Tel Aviv; another exhibition review looks at forty years  of Coop Himmelb(l)au. The newsletter closes with a record number of events announcements submitted by correspondents from twenty-five European countries.

After we had already completed editing this issue and begun layout, a fire tragically destroyed the entire Faculty of Architecture building at the TU Delft on 13 May.
The building housed not only the EAHN secretariat, but offices of three EAHN committee members and our Dutch correspondent, as well as those of many other EAHN members.
The Dutch education minister characterized the fire as "the greatest catastrophe  which ever struck a university in the Netherlands."
Fortunately no one was hurt, but the material loss to the faculty and students is devastating.

Only through the truly heroic efforts of the EAHN administrative assistant Isabel van der Zande and the rest of the newsletter team are we able to publish the June issue on schedule. Please keep our Dutch colleagues in mind as they begin to rebuild not only their building, but also their professional lives.

Second issue of the Newsletter of the European Architectural History Network

EAHN n 1 2008

In this issue, read about two very different libraries, both of which are deeply concerned with the history of architecture.  Or take a Virtual Tour of Seljuk cities in medieval Anatolia.  Book and exhibition reviews examine nineteenth-century Dutch architecture and the work of Peter Zumthor.  Finally, the newsletter provides dozens of events announcements submitted by thirty-four correspondents from all over Europe
